Florham Park, NJ - With all the coverage the Jets have received over the past off-season, you would figure it was Gang Green who walked away with the Vince Lombardi Trophy in Febuary.  Instead it was Big Blue led by "Elite" quarterback Eli Manning. With the 2012-13 NFL season about to commence, Mark Sanchez is looking to match his counterpart and lead the Jets to their first Super Bowl in over 40 years.

"It's my huddle" said Sanchez.  "Get in and do your job".  There's no question that the former USC Trojan is facing more heat this season than he's ever had to deal with.  With Tim Tebow anxiously awaiting on the sideline, it's fair to assume Sanchez will constantly be looking over his shoulder.   If #6 fails to live up to his expectations in the first few weeks, one might see Tebow jogging on to the field to start a game.

Head coach Rex Ryan claims that Sanchez is his quarterback and there's no plan to change that.  Though Ryan isn't facing as much pressure as Sanchez, if the Jets struggle early, big ol' Rex might have a change of heart.

Jets flying low for first time

under Rex

East Rutherford, NJ - Even in his first year as coach, the Jets were hoping to put together a successful season, now?  They're just trying to avoid a disastrous one.   Entering his fourth season as mastermind of the Jets, Rex Ryan knows a lot of "experts" are passing on his club this year. "Let them think what they want" expressed Rex. "We know what we're capable of and we're going to go out there and prove it.  Ryan may sound optimistic, but even he has skipped on the Super Bowl guaranttes this season.

The Jets are entering the season with quite possibly the thinest wide receiver core in the NFL.  They're relying on rookie wideout Stephen Hill to be the team's number two option and he's already been seeing dropping balls in training camp.

Unless the team discovers a breakout start on their thin depth chart, it could be a long season for the green & white.

Gang Green must return to Ground & Pound in Week 1

New York, NY - In 2009, it was Thomas Jones and Shonne Greene.  In 2010 and '11, it became Shonne Greene and Ladanian Tomlinson.  In 2012? It's Shonne Greene and TBA.  That's the scary note.  The Jets know they want to return to what made them successful (running game), but they don't know how to do it.

Sure the club traded for Tim Tebow, but he's not a ground and pound option. He's simply a decoy who lines up behind the center. Shonne Greene has yet to establish himself as a true number-one option, he's struggled throughout the preseason and sits atop the depth chart simply because there's no other choice.

The Jets take on the Bills in Week 1, who have upgraded their d-line with pro-bowl pass-rusher  Mario Williams.  If New York elects to try and pass the ball to their thin receivers, it could be disastrous.  The Jets need to rely on the running game if they have any hope  at starting the season 1-0.
